Healthy Tip for Your Day: Ab flab! We all hate it and will swear it is the most stubborn place to burn fat! But that is not the case and the right workout will help you lose ab fat. A review of research in the Journal of Obesity found that doing high-intensity interval training may be more effective at reducing ab fat than any other kind of workout. HIIT is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods; often 20 seconds on and 10 seconds off. Why does this work? Because the body sees high-intensity exercise as a stressor and elevates fat-freeing hormones--in a nutshell. This is one of my favorite ways to train myself and my clients.
